San Antonio Housing Market Statistics – March 2012
So far we have seen increasing housing numbers every month in 2012! According to the market report provided by the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR), for the 3rd consecutive month, our numbers are up!
There were 1637 homes sold in March 2012, which is a 4 percent increase from March 2011. When looking at the entire 1st quarter of 2012, 3855 total homes have been sold, a 6 % increase from the first quarter of 2011.
The Average & Median sale prices for single famly homes wer both up when compared to March 2011. The average came in at $185,561, a 2% increase and the median came in at $155,600, a 4% increase.
“The benifit to the San Antonio housing market from job creation by military relocations, growth in health care and biosciences, renewed investment in oil and gas exploration, as well as revived interest in manufacturing reflect favorably in our statistics.” said SABOR President & CEO Angela Shields.
With the Spring & Summer historically being the “busy season” in real estate, we are excited to see what the next several of months have in store for us.

It is officially FIESTA Time!! San Antonio’s biggest party of the year starts tomorrow. For the next 11 days, the entire city of San Antonio will be celebrating!
FIESTA San Antonio started back in 1891 with a single parade event. It has grown quite a bit since then…
FIESTA 2012 will feature over 100 fun-filled events….Everything from Festivals, to Parades, to Coronations, to Art Exhibits! Each & every event is sponsored by a local nonprofit or military organization!
FIESTA San Antonio is considered The Party with a Purpose! The profits from each FIESTA event help to provide services and fund programs & scholarships for San Antonio residents throughout the year!

A Taste of New Orleans 2012 – FIESTA San Antonio
It is almost time…FIESTA, FIESTA, FIESTA!!
With over 100 FIESTA events taking place during San Antonio’s 11 day annual celebration, it can be hard to decide which events to attend!
One FIESTA event you do not want to miss is A Taste of New Orleans! The good thing is it spans over 3 fun-filled days, April 20-22, 2012. During these 3 exciting days, the Sunken Gardens Theatre will be filled with the Sounds and of course, the Tastes of New Orleans. 2012 will be the 27th year that this glorious event has been “cooking up the hottest foods and the coolest jazz in all of Fiesta!”
So…what are some of the delicious Tastes of the Crescent City?? The “Taste” menu includes assorted gumbos, red beans and rice, shrimp creole, etouffee, shrimp kabob, jambalaya, cajun catfish, soft shell crab, crab au gratin, crab rolls, fresh crawfish boil, boudin, alligator, beignets and a host of other tasty treats.

Another great thing about A Taste of New Orleans is the music! You won’t find this much great Dixieland Jazz , Smooth Jazz , Zydeco, R&B, or Brass Band music without actually taking a trip to N’awlins! (A Taste of New Orleans 2012 Entertainment Line-Up)
With all of the great music, it is likely that you will find yourself dancing around. But don’t worry, you can bring blankets & folding chairs for when you need to rest & relax!
A Taste of New Orleans is also very family friendly event…so you can bring the kiddos (and their strollers, if you like) & bring them along to enjoy the festivities as well! In fact, there is even a secure kids play area with novelties, balloons, face painting, a power slide, rock wall climbing, bungee-bounce and more.

Friday April 20th: 5 p.m.-midnight (Military Appreciation Night)
Saturday April 21st: noon-midnight
Sunday April 22nd: noon-11 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at participating HEB stores for $10.

FIESTA…San Antonio’s biggest party of the year is just around the corner!
Without a doubt, one of the biggest & busiest parties during this fun-filled 11 day celebration is NIOSA – A Night in Old San Antonio! In fact, NIOSA is the largest historic preservation festival in the nation!
During NIOSA, San Antonio’s historic downtown village of La Villita will host nearly 100,000 visitors with an abundance of fantastic food, beverages & live entertainment!

Alamo Heights Night 2012 – It’s Party Time in ’09 – FIESTA San Antonio
San Antonio’s biggest party of the year is just around the corner!
One of our favorite events during FIESTA is ALAMO HEIGHTS NIGHT!
This fun outdoor event is usually held on the first Friday night of FIESTA San Antonio. This year, ALamo Heights night will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012.
Since 1987, the Alamo Heights Rotary has been kicking off San Antonio’s week-long FIESTA celebration with an elaborate neighborhood “block-party” style fundraising event…Alamo Heights Night! While Alamo Heights Night is not technically an official FIESTA event, it has grown to to be very popular & highly respected San Antonio event, since it’s start over a quarter of a century ago.
For many years neighbors & their friends gathered near the Alamo Heights Swimming Pool area to enjoy the festivities, which include great food, drinks, live music & fun times!
With the popularity of this event bringing over 10,000 people, a larger venue with better facilities became essential. A couple of years ago, Alamo Heights Night was moved to the campus of the University of the Incarnate Word & the event has continued to be a huge success!
It is always fun to see everyone enjoying the festivities with their stack of empty beer cups & big smiles on their faces!
This year, the 26th Annual Alamo Heights Night will once again be held on the UIW campus. (Broadway & Hildebrand – MAP)
There will be several new activities at the event this year! Alamo Heights Night 2012 promises to once again be “Bigger & Better than Ever!!””
The Live Entertainment line-up for 2012 includes Hotcakes, Christ Story Band, & Tennessee Valley Authority!
You can purchase advance tickets at several area businesses or at the door. Admission is only $10 for Adults and $5 for ages 12-17 & those with a student ID…Children under 12 get in FREE! Parking is limited, but there they also offer FREE Park & Ride Services!
With FIESTA just a few weeks away, this fun-filled event is almost here! So, get ready because the local restaurants & non-profit organizations that will operate the 100 booths at Alamo Heights Night 2012 will be ready for you on April 20th from 5:30-11:30 pm! “It’s Party Time in ’09!”

The fun event will take place on the second Thursday of each month!
For it’s third year at TPC San Antonio, the 2012 Valero Texas Open will be held April 16th through April 22nd!
